Magnolia
United Methodist Church
Welcome
“The Church is not a group of people who believe all the same things; the Church is a group of people caught up in the same story, with Jesus at the center."
-Rachel Held Evans
At Magnolia United Methodist Church, church is more than just a building, or a Sunday morning service. All are welcome, to participate in any or all of our commuinities, as you choose, and as you are. Doubter or believer, gay or straight, documented or undocumented, you are welcome here. Together, we make a community, centered on Christ's love, existing to serve God's love and mercy to our neighbors.
Current Series:
Imago D.E.I. - Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Image of God
New Series beginning on Feb 23
This series examines vulnerable groups in our society through a biblical lens, affirming that ALL are created in God's image. We will start with an introduction to the topic and then cover specific vulnerable demographic profiles, including our transexual family members (gender issues), those with disabilities (ability issues), immigrants and assylum seekers (addressing racial, national, and linguistic issues), and the LGBTQ community as a whole (sexuality issues). We hope you can join us in this important and very relevant journey.

This Week's Service (Feb 23, 2025): Imago D.E.I. - We are ALL Created in God's Image
This week we dive into the heart of Christian teaching: loving God, loving our neighbor, and loving ourselves,. Our message this week challenges the notion of limiting our "neighbor" to those most like us, reminding us that the biblical call extends to everyone, especially those in need. In a world where division and marginalization are on the rise, the sermon explores how concepts like D.E.I. (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) attempt to counteract biases and ensure opportunities are available to all.
However, with increasing attacks on inclusion and vulnerable groups, it's crucial to remember the concept of "Imago Dei" – that all people are made in God's image, possessing inherent dignity and value. This week’s message calls for active love and compassion, urging us to advocate for, protect, and affirm all of God's children. In these challenging times, our faith matters, and by leaning into Jesus and trusting in God's love, we can find hope and resilience, reflecting His image and fulfilling our purpose of loving our neighbor as ourselves.
